New guy, looking at the SV650...

First off, great site you have here! I have learned a lot in the past week or so searching through all of your posts.

Please excuse my ignorance and inability to do a proper search......What the heck is a "Pointy" versus a "Curvy"?

At first I thought it was naked versus faired, but now I'm not so sure...

Anyway, hopefully I will be joining your ranks as an owner soon!

Cheers!

Todd

Welcome to the mad house.

Pointy/Curvy reflects the shape of the bike. Curvies, being, erm, curvy, are older models, carbs etc. Pointies, being, erm, pointy, are newer models, and have fuel injection.

The change-over was 2003. After that, you get the K3, K4, K5, K6 & K7. All pointies. Before that, were the one's that later got improved ;)

I think what Baph was trying to say is that the curvy is the prototype for the better looking and faster pointy one.

curvys were the first attempt, they got it right with the pointy,

if you stick around long enough you'll see that the pointy/ curvy debate is quite heated, usually with the superior pointy being preffered to the "bob the builder" style of the curvy,

oh and blue is the fastest colour, Suzuki will even confirm this if you call them.........................

All pointies are blue - mine is just so fast that to the eye it looks red - so yes, blue ones are fastest, but the fastest ones appear red :)

You know, everything he said is a well known fact!

Hi, vtrider... never mind the kids, everybody knows black curvies are best.

If you are a fan of the pointy this means you have a hidden gay yearning (unless of course you happen to be openly gay in which case it's just a yearning) as it all angles and chisel jawed, all butch like. If you are a fan of the curvey your hetrosexuality is intact as it's shapely and curved just like a good woman. If you are gay and like the curvey you simply have good taste.

I think that about covers it.;)

(Of course this works in reverse if you are a woman)

Hey thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

LOL I wondered if I was opening a can of worms here!

Going to check out an 07' this afternoon, pretty much rave reviews on these bikes around every corner so I am stoked!

Oh, a bit about me.... Just shy of 40, returning rider. Originally I was smitten by the triumphs, but I just can't justify the expense at this point, nor do I want to wreck me or the 1050!

So, decided to jump in a bit less forcefully (read: Cheap *******!).

I will be posting more questions etc. as I go.

Um....here's one for you..... I am not sure about the stock seat and would consider the oem gel, but looked at one made by Baglux? Looked real nice as it was a one-piece, but not sure if it is available in the States??

Again, thanks for your welcomes!

Todd
