Replacment Screen fitting
just bought a double bubble screen for my half faired 650 and I can't get the two rubber bungs fitted around the lower fixing bolts to fit. Any techique or order of fitting to make this happen? i really don't want to have to go to Fowlers and ask such a simple question:stupid:

Re: Replacment Screen fitting
Basically these rubber bungs deform over time, making it nigh on impossible to refit them after removal. If you go and buy some new ones you'll find they should fit quite easily, and will then compress on tightening up, fixing it all in position until next time. Most bike retailers should sell suitable "grommets" I found it was cheaper to buy a kit with new bolts than get the original Suzuki parts. Hope this helps.

Re: Replacment Screen fitting
Boil the kettle, pour a cupful of hot water, drop the rubber bits into the cup, make a brew with the remainder of the hot water, drink brew, re fit original rubber bits.

Re: Replacment Screen fitting
Is it an Airblade screen.
I've had two of those and the fitting is difficult as the 4 holes seem way out. I've made up some "fitting" tools. Long bolts with big washers held by a nut to give a handle. They allow you to push the grommets in at an angle and not lose them in the fairing or floor. Fit all four without the fairing bolts then tighten the 2 at the front first once all grommets are in place. |
