Smart Cars
One of the selling points of these things (the little ones anyway) was that you can park them rear-end to the kerb and so take less space parking - I think they quoted 2 Smarts in the space of 1 average car.
However there is a flaw in this plan. A Smart parked rear to the kerb sticks out a bit more than a normal car - not enough to be a problem, just enough to make you think its a normal car trying to pull out onto the road. Have one that is regularly parked on a road I go down on the way home, 1st time I saw it I slowed RIGHT down, even stopped as I wasn't sure it wasn't going to pull out. Still catches me out once or twice if I am not 100% on the ball. Anyone else have this - or is it just me thats a bit mental ??? David |
Re: Smart Cars
I used to own a smart car and if i'm honest parking them nose to the curb was something i very rarely did. Most of the time the space you squeeze into that requires the car to be put in that way is one that has been left to allow the other two cars to get out hence i thought it rude to try it.
They are soo damm easy to park parrallel anyway i could never see the point. |
Re: Smart Cars
and if the space is that small that you can only park nose to the curb theres no chance you'll be able to open the door to get out. bummer. good fun cars though :)

Re: Smart Cars
You should always be keeping any eye out for them round London anyhows, because it might be one of these. Theres one quite often on my daily ride through South Ruislip, and apparently this one based around Heathrow.

Re: Smart Cars
must admit I've been guilty of parking right upto the drivers door of one parked across a bay - and a van had backed right upto the passengers side. hehhe. made me chuckle at the time.
