Do you nod/acknolwedge...

... a biker riding down the road when you're on foot?

Why do I ask? Well, went to the shop not that long back, wearing full bike gear (read: boots, textile trousers & jacket). On my way back, biker on a cruiser coming towards me. Now, usually, I'll nod etc but get stange looks back. This time he nodded first, would of been rude not to reply.

So what do you do? Also, what about when you're in the car?

Was going to post on a similar topic but 1st to answer Baph

Yep I nod to other riders - get some wierd looks, when, like today, I am wearing a sleeveless T-shirt and my draggin jeans - the Sidi Vertigo Corsas are mostly hidden and who looks at feet anyway. Usually get a better response when wearing more obvious bike gear.

Anyway onto my derail :)

Bikers in Scotland are more friendly - FACT!!!

Might have been they were all in a good mood following the Easter Egg run but as I was heading INTO Glasgow as a load were heading North on the M8/A80 nearly every bike nodded or flashed lights

Was great :)

yep .... because it makes me feel giddy and happy when I see someone else on a bike, whatever I'm doing! They probably think I'm barmy, but who cares

Plod are always wanting to pull bikers for one reason or another. Bluesteel's reasoning just isn't official police business!

but to answer the question....if I'm on foot & obviously in biker gear, I'll look in the general direction of the biker - if they look back I'll nod.

I got the nod back from a moped rider doing the knowledge the other day when I was on foot. Quite chuffed to get acknoweldegement from a moped!

Sometimes but by accident lol. I have nodded at bikers when i been driving but thats because i forget that i'm in the car. I do have to stop leaning round corners in the car too :D

Re: Do you nod/acknolwedge...

If I make eye contact with the rider when im walking about, then I'll give a thumbs up or a nod...but genrally, this sort of biker-biker interaction dosnt occur when I'm not actualy on the bike. I think alot of the time bikers will see me walking wearing my leather jacket (i wear it as a casual jacket sometimes too) and probably think "there's a wannabe biker", and if I'm wearing completly non-biking related apparel, then i suspect most bikers will assume that I am oblivous to motorbikes, like most non-biking type of people are. Under these situations I doubt eye contact will be made, and I doubt any kind of biker-biker recognition will occur.
