WMP and *.avi
 

Computer tech help pleeeeeeeze.

Why won't my Windows Media Player play *.avi files. Or rather it does in sound only. No pictures...? Why is that? Can I fix it?

All avi files wont play? I'm guessing only some, probably due to some codecs you're missing.

Download this: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

It'll tell you what codecs you need to play the file, then you can go google for them.

get the k-lite codec pack or nemo codec pack, then you can play pretty much anything in wmp.

Download this mate... All the codec's you'll need ;)

It does say Vista codecs, but it works on NT/XP/Vista...

I'm using it and it does pretty much everything ;)

or you could go for an alternative to wmp (which quite frankly is crap in the extream) www.videolan.org

not found anything it doesnt play yet....

Just gonna try that as I have the opposite problem to Scoobs (mind you have that normally) Vision but no sound with *avi files
