Weeeeee! New bike!!

Picked it up today :p Still bouncing around, first time back on a bike in four years :)

Engine braking caught me out the first couple of hundred yards (much fiercer than I'd expected in first gear - but that catches me out on every four stroke), and it turns out I've completey forgotten how to do very slow speed corners (junctions, double mini roundabouts the like) but other than that, uneventful and happy ride betwixt Cirencester & Cheltenham.

Mid speed cornering (not gone above 70 yet!) has very quick turn in, 400cc quick, it's lurvely :) Front brake seems a little weak but it might need bedding in some.

Off to fill up with go-juice and play some more :)

Hee hee - it's fun isn't it.

Now get yourself down to the local superstore carpark this evening and have a practise with the slow-speed stuff.

Still in one piece :) Went for a bimble to Oxford and back via the scenic route, last couple of miles with a bloke on a Yam XJsummit (1200?) - at the traffic lights he informed me my reg plate had fallen off :D

Really trying to keep to the running in procedure (had 120 this morning, double that now) which is wisely limiting the need to whap it open and hoon past rows of cars (and into a ditch). Not sure how on earth you're supposed to keep it below 5K though, 6-6.5K seems just about do-able.

Forgotten how tiring it can be, my wrists are killing me (no, not from "that" from the bike!)

Slow speed stuff is still a bit of a worry, it's that crossover point between counter steering and, um, plain steering that gets me and I seem to be wobbling round with a fair bit of clutch slip. Anyhow, practice makes perfect as you say :) Think I'll head up to Nottingham tomorrow and visit the folks; it should be ready for first service pretty soon after that :)

Get yourself on a car park & learn the slow speed stuff.
Just keep riding & it will all come naturally anyway. ENJOY :p:D:cool:

Slow speed: Look where your going, not where you dont want to go. Back brake and a good amount of revs.

Play in a car park :D get some cones or something to set out a little course for you to play on

Most importantly

Have fun  :D
