Mini Indicators are very very stupid
One of the 'advantages of riding through central London every day is seing the stupid things that people do to their bikes. The last few days I seem to have seen a lot that Have got me worked up a bit.
The ones I really don't understand are mini indicators. Indicators are there for ones own benefit, so that other road users can know what you are doing and avoid getting you into problems. People who have indicators which are so small, so dim or so close to the number plate (or all three) that you can't see them unless you are very close, must be completely insane. It is a bit sad that some people are quite happy to damage the ears of the rest of the world because they want us all to know they have a bit of a problem with their brain. But hey, that's life. I can uderstand that people want to have number plates that are impossible to read, so that they can get away with breaking the law without being identified. I wish the police would do their job and do something about them. If one of them kills me at some point, I would prefer to think they might be called to task for it. But the indicator one though, I cannot see what benefit they think they get from them. Anyone got any idea? |

Its a "look" thing.
TBH my mini indicators are just as bright as my original ones were, my brother followed me to work one day he was a good 300 - 400 metres behind me in his car and he remarked to me how bright the mini indcators were on my bike... If its done properly you can still see them IMHO. I put some spacers onto mine to push them out a little wider than standard. |

Car drivers is I think a red herring, they don't hear them anyway (shut windows radios etc.) |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
e-marked ones are as bright - if not brighter than standard indicators.
i had a pair of mini LED indicators that wernt emarked, you could barely see them at night, you had no chance during the day, so they got replaced with e-marked ones (at a higher price). and now my back end looks better, and the indicators are brighter too. |

You know what?
I'd rather follow a guy with mini-indicators that uses them, rather than follow someone with normal indicators that dosnt use them. Get good mini-indicators (bright LED ones?) and put them in a good place, and they are ok to use (as long as they are actualy used) As for riding at a speed where you can stop when a suicide pedestrian steps out... ...that'll be about 10mph, to make sure you can account for all of them... All the LED ones I've seen are utter crap, no side visibility at all, never on my bike in a million years.
