On my way home today.......
I had the missfortune to witness this:
http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?i...oto0021ou4.jpg http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?i...oto0022fn5.jpg http://img443.imageshack.us/my.php?i...oto0020dp5.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?i...oto0019rb6.jpg An R1,travlling in excess of the speed limit (60 mph national limit) approaching a really bad left hand bend with an adverse camber. This road is in Birmingham just at the rear of Frankley services on the M5 Southbound. Both the rider and passenger were wearing trackies not decent kit. Both were lucky to be alive as you can see that the warning chevrons for the bend were demolished. First aid was given by me and a woman who pulled up in a KA. Others stood around watching the 2 guys suffer. Lessons???? Again as Big Ape says: Wear yer ferkin leathers Know your roads, and if you dont, slow down a bit Get some first aid training....... you never know when you are going to need it Terry |
Re: On my way home today.......
Good to hear that you managed to aid them with first aid, it must have been a bit of a shock to arrive at the scene.

R6
If thoes sign posts were any any bigger it would have been far worse. They live and learn, but lucky to be alive and that other people were looking out for them. |

Re: On my way home today.......
I'm going on what was left on the plastics etc.... dont even know how old...
there was a 70 yard skid mark on the road...... both rider and pillion were local (so I was told) and from what was said by the attending police officer, I dont think it was a case of "inexperienced fair-weather rider on unfamiliar roads" I will not say further on a public forum tho Terry |
Re: On my way home today.......
Not good hitting a roadsign - I speak from personal experience :(

Re: On my way home today.......
It doesn't really matter what sort of bike it is, does it? I hope that rider and passenger are OK[-o<

Re: On my way home today.......
no excuse for not wearing leathers though!! even if it is hot, why chance it. i bet they dont ride in trackies again?

Re: On my way home today.......
They're lucky, bloody lucky.
If they'd caught the signs edge on, it could cut them in half. I've seen such pics, a lad in Spain i think it was. Really turned my stomach. Although i dont suppose a set of leathers, no matter how good the quality, would save them in such a senario. |
