Supermoto tyres...anyone???
ive been told that it is possible to fit some supermoto tyres to the sv. which makes sense as they are exactly the same size, and also got told they are rather good for grip. anyone tried this?? I dont do too many high speeds, mainly cornering grip i am after. they seem cheaper too.
650 99 model by the way |
Re: Supermoto tyres...anyone???
I've had a few supermotos and run BT090s which were nice and grippy and a good all rounder, but Maxxis were better. Maxxis come in different compounds too, so you can run a softer front and harder rear. Excellent tyres.
I alos used Avon Pro extreme rain tyres with really good effect especially during winter. Another fantastic band for your buck is Tomahawk (or Konkorde) remoulds! You'll buy thesse for £90 a pair on ebay! I picked up someTomaawks for £40 in race compound. Killed teh rear in about 800 miles!:D I have Azaros on my sv at present and I hate Avons with a passion, so when they go i might well run some Maxxis on the SV! |
Re: Supermoto tyres...anyone???
coool. cos i have been looking at the maxxis goldspeed. they look pretty good and reasonably priced. might have to give them a go. the bridgstones i have at the mo i dont like at all. when ever under heavy breaking on the front the front wheel was slipping away from under me. not a confident inspiring tyre. think they are the 020's

Maxxis are a block pattern tread though and you may feel them squirm a bit, but you soon get used to them.

Re: Supermoto tyres...anyone???
they will also last about as long as i would if angelina jolie laid down and said to me ''take me anyway you want me big boy''
I used to run goldspeed silvers on my XR650 and they would last me 1200 miles. Silvers are the hardest they do |

Personally I think anything less than 6,000 miles to a tyre is bloody awful, and the Diablo Stradas on my ZX6 offer plenty of grip for the road, and odd track day. Go for it if you want but I'd say while they're cheap to buy, over a summer's riding you're throwing money into a hole.
