Mcafee - The Devils work

AARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!:smt071 :smt071 :smt071 :smt071

I need help from anyone who knows how to tame Mcafee (without uninstalling the bugger).

I'm trying to send out a bulk email newsletter to my customers. So I've put my email address in the 'To' box, and BCC'd everyone else. But spamkiller refuses to send it, saying that there are too many recipients.

I'd disabled spamkiller, but still don't seem to be able to either get around the problem, find a setting to change, or get any helpful advice from the help menu.

Any ideas :smt102

Throw it in the bin tbh... I had it, it's ****. I spent more time combing the blocked list for blatantly false positives (I kid you not, "This message has been blocked because the sender is a Friend") than I do now deleting spam! It's a pretty shoddy virus protector too, and hogs resources.

:( I agree......messagelabs for me....they've got 100% SLA's on AV, and something like 95 on spam capture ....brilliant.......

Sorry I know that does'nt help you know

yep get rid! it slows the PC down too much.

I switched to bullguard, far eiser to use and far better in my opinion. it just lets the PC get on with its business and does its own thing in the background.

Only woke up now that I had a cuppa and read it properly

Are you using outlook with an exchange server....If you are the problem is probably Exchange/Or whatever mail server you are using... and not the spam software, ask your administrator what they have set the limits too It is the SMTP server limit for maximum recipient per message.....I set mine to 500 on my servers

Hope this helps....

Well, I decided to get around the problem by sending the message out in batches of 25-30 recipients....my oh my that was a fun way to waste 30 mins

I disabled Spamkiller some time ago as it seemed to do 3 things really well:

- Block non-spam messages
- Allow spam through
- Grind my laptop to a halt

I'll be uninstalling this junk asap. I use Norton at home (just the AV, not the firewall), and have never had a problem with it, so I'll be installing that.

I also use zone alarm firewall at home, but I have the option of enabling the router firewall with my BT Business broadband in the shop. I'm not sure what would happen if I then use the laptop at home with my sky broadband. I guess I'd still need zone alarm

Again, another not really helpful thread. Someone asks how to get around something and all epople do is slag off the product. Not everyone is a PC Geek.

V., I do see your point, but if the (deserved, in this case) slagging off helps someone change for something better (and possibly free of charge), then that's at least half of the problem solved, IMHO. That said, I do agree with you that it isn't always the best procedure.

Fair point, but it never solves the issue there and then.

Sjvj, i know. Just its one of my little bug bares... How do i solve this, get rid of it, and do this, not, well, this may be the issue etc etc.
