pointy-curvy fork change

can you fit the forks & yokes from a k3-k6 onto a 99 curvy,i know there not much better than the curvy apart from preload, but my stantions are shagged on the curvy.
Does the top yoke fit the curvy ignition switch.
thanks

Shagged? How?

And you can fit the preload adjusters off K2 curvys.

Personally I think our forks look a bit meatier than the pointys.

They have pitting on chrome where the seals go over

I would think changing the forks to a pointys would mean new brakes and maybe wheel as well.

If you don't fancy getting new stanchions or a second hand set of curvy forks guess you'd better go for the GSXR conversion. They look good.

Yep, SV parts are pretty pricey so if you're doing a whole front end swap it'd not make much sense... Rechroming's pricey too, so I'd just look for a used set of forks and swap like for like, or if you want to do a swap at least get an upgrade for your money... An SRAD 750 front end would be easier to fit than a pointy one, and maybe even cheaper 8)

And the front mudguard mounting is different as well.

Just take the forks off and get yourself a polishing kit. Polish off the lacquer then plish up the forks. I dont it to mine, although not that well, but no pitting or corrosion, and just a point of once a quarter give the forks a buff with the polishing kit. failing that, get them powder coated etc.

It sounds more like it's the chromed fork stanchions than the alloy bottoms / sliders that are corroded in this case though I may be wrong..

it is the chrome stanchions that are corroded,
are just the fork legs the same,i dont have to fit yokes.

Re: pointy-curvy fork change

No, the legs are different, as a pointy has a fatter spindle i think.

The only front-end bit thats the same on both models is the calipers.

It's really not worth the hassle, i know now from experience!

Re-chroming has to be the cheapest option - around £50 the pair?
Then next cheapest is a stanchion swap - £80 apiece.

Plus new oilseals as they'll be 2nd hand now.
