GSXR front end
 

I've got some race spares from a '00 GSXR 750 taking up space in my garage, so I thought I would put them on my girlfriends '99 SV650. I've pretty much have everything except a GSXR triple tree. Any advice/steps to take to complete install? Also is it possible to convert a GSXR rear wheel to fit on the SV? I've already put led blinkers, led integrated tail light w/ a fender eliminator. Looks sharp.

The secret to an easy GSXR front end fit on a curvy is SRAD 750 yokes. With a tiny wee mod to the lock mechanism or frame, you retain the parking lock and the steering stops work without modification. Those forks will drop straight in. If it's a faired SV, the clipons will be rather low for it and the cables'll foul the fairing so TL1000S clipons among others are a good upgrade. (not R, just S) All you need is something clever for the top bearing- most folks use the custom bearing made by Twin Works Factory in the states, or you can press the SV stem into the SRAD yokes and use spacers.

Wheel-wise though, the SRAD yokes are quite wide so it makes more sense to fit an SRAD/TL/Busa wheel. The K2 wheels seem to be more expensive anyway. SRAD axle as well. Discs are the same on both models, the mudguard will stretch out the couple of mm to fit, and the calipers need very minor spacing in- couple of M8 washers.

You can fit a whole K2 front end, mind- but you'll have more problems with the steering stops and you probably can't make the ignition lock work. Also the wheels don't match, if that matters to you.

However you do it, use a 120/70 tyre, the GSXR forks are shorter so the taller tyre helps balance this out.

This is a 1200 bandit rear wheel fitted to a curvey the GSXR wheel will need machining down to fit where the bandit wheel just needed a spacer kit!

Ya'lls bikes are bad ass!!

Her bike is of the naked version. She's also 5'4 so the bike has been lowered and the 750 forks I have are a perfect match lenght wise. I'll start looking for SRAD triple tree. What about the speedo? Billy it looks like you are using a bandit front wheel as well, w/ GSXR rotors?

Billy's front is the SRAD wheel I reckon...

You'll need to figure out how to mount the clocks to the yokes, mind, and either switch to clipons or figure out some way to fit bars to the GSXR yokes. Speedo drive's fairly easy these days, 2 good ways- you can run it off the real axle, or you can get a magnet and pickup kit that allows you to fit it pretty much wherever you want. Can't remember where to get it though :rolleyes:

Oh aye, it's a stock SV tail with the OEM solo cowl.

I'll have to get creative with some aluminum brackets for the clocks and headlight/blinkers and such. I'll use some OEM clip-ons. I found a collar bearing conversion kit, now all I need to find is a SRAD triple. (and the time to put it all together!) I also found a Bandit rear wheel, so what spacers do I use?

Eh, on the spacers, I've been supposed to measure that up for about 6 months and never have :smt120 Got the wheels in the garage too, I suck.

My front wheel is a TL1000 so are thr discs as for the speedo contact this guy climb.high@verizon.net let him know what parts you are using he's in the US.

I got my spacers for thr 1200 Bandit rear wheel from 21Quest on this forum he had them made up! Give him a pm and he will be able to give you more info on them!
