Why are weathermen so crap?
Now I understand that due to chaos theory it's impossible to have an accurate long term forecast due to the complexity of the system, but this morning the weather forecast for London on BBC Breakfast was "Looks like another sunny day"
While it's raining outside. Surely there should be someone somewhere who looks at the script and then looks out the window and says "Hold on lads, might be worth rephrasing this..." :smt093 :smt067 |
Re: Why are weathermen so crap?
However weather women are great...Hmmm Andrea Mclean, the doris's on Channel 5..hmmm
Oh, you mean the actual weather. Look if it done what it said on the tin, then life would be dull. We need rain! |
Re: Why are weathermen so crap?
Funny thing is, they said it'd rain here. So I set off in full water proofs.
Very slight drizzle, didn't even need to wipe the visor it was so light. That lasted all of 5mins. Before & since, completely blue skies. They got it sort of right, only got muddled on the where part. |
Re: Why are weathermen so crap?
The UK is in a fairly unique geographical and climatological global position.
We receive climatic meteorological forcing from 5 different types of weather. From the North we have Polar Marine and Polar Continental, from the South we have Tropical Marine and Tropical Continental and from the East we receive Temperate Continental weather. This means that it is very difficult to predict what kind of weather we are likely to receive. Pink phone I may have, but stupid I am not. :D |
Re: Why are weathermen so crap?
I reckon someone needs to look at the mathematical model they are using to predict :)
