The cost of an ECU remap?
How much is the cost of getting the bike dyno'ed and getting it set up to suit the modifications I have made. I mean getting the ECU remapped rather than the power commander option?
Has any actually paid to have this done? How long does it take? |
Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Og forgot to mention that I have seen a post that states £20. Most prices I have seen are nearer £100. That's why I thought I'd raise the thread!

Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Right I really need some advice here.
I have just been told from Dynobike in Malton that remapping the ECU aint an option. Here is the mail I got from them. hi Dan no mate this is not a good way to do it with yosh box dose not work very well at all it is to cors adjustment . p/c has lot more scop for fuel adjustment. regards Paul Am I having the **** taken out of me or what. Do I really need to buy a power commander to get the adjustment I will need????????? |
Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Many on here say you don't need the power comander, it's a luxury.
Yes the PC does have more scope for adjustments but the Yoshi will be fine for most and will improve your bike. |
Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
You do not need a PC
The standard ECU can be remapped - I had my SV1000 done at Steve Jordans. Send a PM to SV650RACER for an idea of costs etc |
Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
You can definitely get the ECU re-mapped. My old SV had its ECU re-mapped no problem. CarbonTek (near me in Purley, probably no where near you unfortunately) do it and charge under £40 for it I think.

Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Agree with above, the PC allows you to change the fuelling yourself but if you just want it altered as a very infrequent thing then it's hard to justify the cost. I'd have the stock ECU remapped once you've made all the changes you want.

Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Dynobike are talking crapola am afraid.
The Yoshi adjustment was all that was allowed in minitwins for 3 seasons and out of the 80 or so bikes racing i dont think one had a single problem. Funnily enough now they can run power commanders i know of two that have had them fail and had running problems! Ok i could sell everyone a power commander and make more profit. Ok maybe i am being stupid or helpful...but IMHO for a road going SV or even a minitwin spec bike then the Yoshi adjustment is just fine. expect to pay around £40 upwards to get it done. We use a different system which maps at varying throttle openings just like using a PC but utitlising the stock ECU instead. All the sceptics say..ooh its a tuned motor you have to run a PC...so far every bike we have junked the PC on and run this...has made more BHP and run better in back to back tests. Just saying what we have found..trouble is its hard to get people to understand as PC have cornered the market where mapping is concerned and everyone see's it as the gospel. Also changing the fueling yourself on a pc is crazy unless you have the equipment to analyse the changes you have made to see what affect they have had on the fueling. |
Re: The cost of an ECU remap?
Penneth' worth from someone interested and trying to learn.
~£40+ is lot less than I expected and definately affordable. I was fearing something running into hundreds. |
