33bhp restrictor idea

Hey all,

The idea of this would be to make a restrictor which could be instantly switched "on" or "off" to give selectable 33bhp or full power.

The use of this for me is because my Dad and I both ride, but he's gone all middle aged and doesn't own one of his own, I have a restricted license, he has a full license: So it makes sense to make it easy to switch between 33 and full easily.

Any comments about using this for something less legal, keep them to yourselves.

Now for the punch line:

The idea is to fit a throttle stop with an adjustable "stop" and a spring loaded arm, so to restrict the bike simply remove a pin, the spring loaded arm will move to block the "stop." Hence limiting throttle travel and limiting the bike to a set (adjustable on a dyno to get it to 33bhp) horsepower rating.

I (attempt to) attatch a rough sketch:

This should simply restrict throttle travel and hence airflow, much as the suzuki genuine restrictors prevent the sliders from opening all the way. Any thoughts as to the legal issues and technicalities of it are greatly appreciated!

Chris

P.S What am I doing wrong with the pic? hopefully you should all be able to follow the link though. Ta.
