SV650 Exhaust/Rear Can
 

I have just bought an SV650S Sport and although it sounds OK iam craving for a rear can.

This cutting the original pipe etc is worrying me though, can I put the original back on etc or once it is cut is that it?

Does it really improve the sound that much? as yet i have not heard an SV with a rear can on, so if anyone fancys meeting up so i can get an idea that would also be good.

Do different makes give a different sound?

What is the best make?

Are they hard to fit?

Are they worth the hassle?

Does the ECU need reprogramming or does it run fine as its just a slightly freer flowing rear can?

All these questions keep poping into my head when questioning whether i should get one or not.

Iam tempted by the Fuel ones as they are relatively cheap and affordable, but would obviously like a decent branded one.

Please see my experience with fitting a can. I too was worried about cutting the stock can but it was a relatively painless operation as long as someone who knows what they are doing is with you.

Was it worth it? Oh yeah.:-$ After fitting a neighbour came round because he thought I had been out and bought a Ducati!!

Different exhausts do make different sounds but if you check out the exhaust section of the forum you should get more info there, as everyone on here will no doubt tell you its sounds best with their particular exhaust fitted!

I got a sleeve with my remus so should the original ever need putting back on then it can be done, but I have a friendly MOT station who will turn a blind ear to my exhaust ;)

As far as ECU and all that jazz, well I just tend to put petrol in and the twist the throttle. I'm sure someone with much more technical nouse than me will be along soon....

Get one, if your worried about cutting your pipe look out for a second hand one that you can get with pre cut down pipes or just go straight for a full system. I consider them to be a safty feature as people who might not be able to see you should be able to at least hear you and i simply wouldnt ride a bike without one.

as for makes i would say my favorite is remus because they are solid as a rock and built to last but im sure others have different ideas as to this.

i fitted a CCC can about 12 months ago the i was the same as you.. here are my answers@

i ws worried about cutting the original pipe, but the new can came with a fixing ring that you slip onto the original can and pipe and reweld.. but to be honest i will probably just leave the can on when i swap it in....

the sound is amazing but i have a straight thro pipe with no baffle so the sound of a vtwin is very loud

was it worth it, ye i think so it seamed a loot smoother when i first stered to ride it and i didnt do anything else other then change the can... you might wanna dyno it and get it remapped.. but i didnt.

I just had a remus can fitted to mine, i had it fitted for me as it was free of charge but nothing need changing or re jetting etc on the pointy.

Sounds awsome and im so glad i did it, plus you get a sleve with the new can so you can install the original back on if required.

If you do need to put your original can back on you can get a sleeve\coupler. Currently on Eblay by Fuel for about a tenner.

As long as you stick with the road legal cans you shouldn't really need to swap it back.

Tempted to just buy the £135 Stainless Steel Fuel Exhaust as everyone who has hd one so far seems to rate them.

Several people i know are known for their brand snobbery though so i will probably get a ribbing :smt027

Hi,

had both a CCC not for road use and a Fuel SS one.

IMHO there is negligable differance between either. The CCC one might just have the edge at higher revs, but that only attracts the attention of the law a bit more.

The Fuel one i have just put on actually burbles and pops a bit more than the CCC one use to.

Its an absolute doddle to fit a new end can. I did it in under 2 hours, and i don't know one end of a hammer from the other.

I can't recommend Fuel Cans enough. If your bike is blue the blue titanium can looks stunning, and without the baffel its very loud. I took mine out for a spin after fitting it this weekend, and my wife said she could here me the whole time i was out - and i was over a mile away at one pint.

Also there is not need to worry about the fueling with a Fuel can - so they say anyway.
