Help on choosing it!!!

Hey guys i'm trying to get on a 600cc from a 125cc, so i inn a deal with this guy you selling a sv650 year:2000 it has 16000km on it, it has a akrapovic exhaust on it FOR: 3000EUROS . it has been fallen and had some littile damage, but according to him not major damages. he is giving me a hjc helmet with it to. can you please help me by answering the following questions.

- is it expenseve?
- how should i check if it does not have any problem with engine, and it would not have problems in a near future?

- how many kilometers does a sv650 take untill it starts to give major problems?

Hi and welcome. For the mileage and age that sounds like a high-end of reasonable price (if you see what I mean) but it kinda depends on the damage that's been done in the crash, how well looked after it's been and stuff.

People with a better idea of what to look for will be on soon no doubt. Sounds like you have relatively little riding experience (but I could be wrong of course) so if there's anyone you know with more riding experience it may be worth taking them along to help out with test rides to see if there's anything major wrong with it.

Use any damage as a bargaining tool, don't get taken in by it being shiny and fast, good luck and enjoy!

My Sv650s '2001 was 3500 euro 2years ago, almost immaculate and with only 6000 km.

Given the age, condition and kilometres the one you are looking at sounds a bit expensive.

Where do you live? It's worth looking at a few other bikes and not buying the first one you see. Mine was the 4th bike I saw.

It's hard to say how good a deal that is, because we don't know what your local market is like. It does sound a little on the expensive side, though.
For that age/condition he should probably be looking for something closer to 2.2k, if the market was equivelent to here, anyway.

That said, I think now is when the tide starts to turn and the seller gains more of an advantage than before.

Generaly, as long as you look after the bike, it'll last forever. Let it warm up gently, replace the oil when it needs it (every 5000 - 6000 km?) and keep it clean and it'll last you well for over 120,000 km's I reckon.

I will agree with the helmet thin granted i bought it third hand my brother bought it from his gf dad who wouldn't have sold it to him if it had of been damaged and then i bought it off my brother but otherwise i wouldn't buy a second hand helmet either
