Where can i get one thats safe and works properly, i've heard people say the resistor ones are crap? Also is it really a worth while mod?

Thanks for any replies.

It does give the bottom end a little more of a punch but to be honest not as much as the Busa and Gsxr1000s the biggest problem is you need a differant type as the socket is not the same you can swap the gear sensor plug and socket with the fuel pump one to correct this as I have done but you will have to be very careful not to screew it up.
The better ones are the smart ones which go open circuit when in neutral so your tick over isnt upset.

I've saw these smart ones you talk about, do they just plug in and work without having to tamper with anything else?

Try Busters Accessories, they have smart TRE's for £59.99. As far as i know they have OE connectors, so should plug straight in. :-)

The easiest thing to do is to remove the GPS from under the sprocket cover dig out the silicon and change the resitors for the first three gears and then reseal with silicon rubber the result will be better than a smart TRE and a hell of a lot cheaper as the resistors are about 6p in total.

Does this affect idle speed at all?
Is it just a case of fooling the ECU that its not in one of the first four gears? I thought suzukis used a slightly different map for each gear? So will this cause any probs?

Re: TRE Mod

Its the simplest way to do it and it will leave the original map for neutral alone whats more it looks 100% stock.
