baffle on my exhaust!
just had a new street legal carbon can company exhaust fitted to my curvy sv. i have just come to try and take the baffle out and there's a pin in it on the underside that just WON'T come out!! so therefore cannot remove the baffle!!
any ideas on how to remove this pin would be much apprieciated!! (it's not a screw or an allen key screw, just a plain circular bolt!! :( ) thanks Chris |
Re: baffle on my exhaust!
hi..its a rivet and it needs to be drilled out (carefully:smt107 )using small drill bits, 2 or 3mm and so on, when removed ,pull baffle out and find a self tapping screw to put back through hole when/if you want to put baffle back in..!
sounds nice with the baffle out..:rave: !!!!,got a ccc myself.. |
Re: baffle on my exhaust!
I'm curious as to exactly these baffles look like when removed - anyone got a picture they can post?
Is it what I imagine - a length of tube with holes around it? I'm thinking maybe drill quite a few more holes and then rivet the thing back in. Keeping it quieter than the baffleless can but a bit fruitier than the baffled version Feasable? |
Re: baffle on my exhaust!
IIRC, mine didn't have any holes around it. Just a couple of pieces of tubing welded together.

Re: baffle on my exhaust!
I'm going back to my 2 stroke days when the baffles had to come out regularly although having said that a friend had some sort of super-quiet exhaust fitted to his H***** Sportster which he fixed with a Black&Decker;)

Re: baffle on my exhaust!
I have the same can, I swore it said removable baffle on the net, but it is riveted in there. Is that the same reasoning as saying the stock pipe is removable; so long as you have a hacksaw? Do humans have removable heads?

Re: baffle on my exhaust!
They should make exhausts that can be baffled via a lever at the bar.
