Any Ipod Techies - Help needed

The missus bought me an Ipod nano for me birfday.

I have downloaded the CD to my PC as she has one already downloaded to her laptop.

Now I'm told when I download CD's to my PC, I don't get Track listings as I'm not hooked to the net, is this true?

What I am also struggling with is when I enter a CD it starts to download the tunes into Library. I can create playlists, however every time I plug in my Ipod I get all the tunes in the libary put onto it.

As I only have 1Gb I am limited to space. So how do I download tunes to my Apple Ipod library but prevent hem from getting to my Ipod each time and only put on their the ones I want.

Hope I've made sense. Sorry I'm not good with these things.

Cheers in advance.

You dont get track listings if you have no internet connection as iTunes connects to a database of track listings to download them for you. Im afraid you will have to type them all in manaully. :-(

As for your other query, you CAN manually manage your library. I cant remember the exact setting, but if you have your iPod connected to your PC, switch your PC on and when iTunes starts, the first screen it goes to is the iPod screen IIRC. Im sure that on there is a setting that lets you manually manage your music. When thats selected, you can pick track by track if you like what music goes onto your iPod. I know this as I have a 2Gb Nano and over 15Gb of music so far to pick from!! If I can find the proper setting name tonight, I'll post and let you know. In work at the mo so no access to iTunes.

Hope this helps

He's right, when your iPod is syncing to itunes, there's an option on the iTunes GUI for manually managing your iPod... Tick it!... :smt119 and untick the automatic sync option.

The joys of 60gbs ;)

Theres a setting in Prefrences (edit prefrences i think, anyway second option al0ong, then at the bottom of the drop down list) in there you will find all options for you pod. One of them, is update pod with libary each time you connect . Just turn this off.

Without it in fornt of me i cant remember the exact menu path, but it is turn offable.

As for the track names. No net connection, it cant connect to CDDB :( You can however enter them manualy.

If you highlight the album, then right click, select the option Get Info, you can enter the album name, and artist, and other information. Then click Ok. Then click on the 1st track, Get info again, then one of the tabs (Cant remeber wich) will give you the ablilty to add the track name. Just select next in the bottom of the dialouge box, and it'll take you to the next track.
