The guy who owns it said it has some damage due to a low speed slide and the bike has now been repaired and repainted but it is a cat D.

I am thinking i should walk away. However, if it is just damaged fairings than it is not a problem since they have been repaired.

Also, the finance seems a bit odd. I am going to contact Deutsch bank tomorrow about that.

If someone knows a bit more about Cat D that would be appreciated.

Regards

Amrik

Walk away from it mate. Bike has outstanding finance.
There is loads of used bikes on market. Take your time mate.
This bike is waste of time. Too many things is wrong.

cat D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage sometimes stolen and found after claim has been paid, or cost of repair combined with difficulty obtaining new parts to enable a swift repair.
Recorded with HPI.

Re: HPI - help please

Thanks for your advice. I will walking away for sure now. The guy was asking £1500 for this. I thought that was ok if it had no history. It is good i did a hpi check! The owner said there is no finance on it but he could be lying. He also said that it had a 10mph accident and the insurance was claimed and fairings were replaced outside insurance.

I am after an sv650S preferably black/silver that will not depreciate much. I don't mind spending any amount on it as long as in 18months time i can sell it for a similar price to i bought it at. With that in mind which faired sv650S would you recommend me!

Unless you get a very, very, low price it's probably not worth it. Could all be exactly as it seems, guy hasn't paid his finance off yet and the insurance were trying to get away with the easier option of writing it off but then again he could be trying to pull a fast one. Did the seller choose not to mention these things or did you do the HPI before he had a chance?

Like any other form of gambling only go for it if you can afford to lose.
If you can you could negociate a huge bargain.

Interesting coincidence that last change of owner was 31.7.06 and write off 5.8.06. Not sure what that means...

Re: HPI - help please

finance on a bike 8 years old? weird. No bike will be written off for a few scratched fairings. Its not economical in the slightest. So if this blokes holding back on a few details, what else is he hiding

(besides, didn't you get the HPI to check for finance/damage?!)

The seller said it had an accident but was repaired outside insurance but the previous owner crashed it. The seller didn't mention the finance at all. I am pretty much convinced of walking away.

TBH i originally wanted a civic type r but since i am a miser i saw biking as a cheaper fun/method of transport! I want to go biking without any depreciation. I was informed about the bike and i spoke to the guy on the phone but to be safe i took the check.

What Sv650S sufferes the least from depreciation and if the finance and his story checks out what do you recon would be a good price for a black sv650s 1999 model?
