Choke Cable Housing K1
Hi Orgers,
Has anyone ever dismantled the plastic housing that houses the choke cable / light switch on a K1 ? I started to unscrew the self tappers that hold the two halves of the housing togther from underneath, when just as the screws were on their last thread I noticed a very small ball bearing / springs / clips and all sorts of stuff inside the housing that looked like they wouuld jump out and disappear all over my garage floor if i'd have taken the housing fully apart. Is it as complicated on the inside as it looks on the outside ? - is it a job I wished I'd never started - or do the 2 halves of the cover just separate without 50+ bits jumping out at me ? |
Re: Choke Cable Housing K1
If your refering to the left hand switch housing, removing two screws allows the housing to split in two. No bits wil fly anywhere. Sometimes it is difficult to wrestle the housing back on the bars, in my experiece. You should be fine/ it would be hard to break things. (just be gentle)

What he said, there's no vanishing springy bits in there. Why do you want to take it off?

I had to do that when I replaced the choke cable on my curvey in October. Just look at how it fits together when it comes apart... Easy really..

Well - had the bike for a few years now and I've always wondered whats under the cover ? Always thought a bit of cleaning / lubrication wouldn't go a miss as that indicator switch must get a bit of a hammering - just as long as I dont finish up visiting Kidderminster Motorcycle Mart with a bag of bits in a Tescos carrier ! so.......here I go ! |
