A wee disclaimer about me and rideouts/events
I'm known for unreliability at the best of times, but thought I should explain something since I'm more likely to be a no-show this year, and not doing some stuff I'd like to... Meant to do this ages ago but I've still been getting my head around it a bit.
I was diagnosed with osteoperosis- eh, quite bad osteoperosis- back in about February, bones like a bird. Long story which, tbh, I don't want to get into at the moment, but that's the reason why I broke my hip, and if I was to have any decent sized accident I'd go home in an ambulance- any big accident and, well, brush and shovel time, I'd break like a dropped glass. Obviously, everyone wants me to give up the bike, but I found I didn't even have to decide not to do that, it just took care of itself. Never on the cards. But, I'm not completely stupid, so I'm toning things down just a little- which means no trackdays (well, OK, maybe one...) and I'm avoiding any sort of recreational riding in bad conditions. They're not much fun anyway, so no great loss :) Also hopefully, not commuting through next winter. So it means I'll probably miss any marginal rideouts, and at short notice too, just depending on the weather. Nobody can accuse me of being a FWB after 4 scottish winters on 2 wheels though :) It is a temporary setback, all treatable, already in progress in fact and should have a good prognosis, so don't freak out! But, for the next year or maybe two I do have to watch myself. I'm not the eejit I used to be anyway on the bike so I'm pretty content with the risks, but I'm drawing a few lines where I wouldn't have in the past. So, there you go. Also, I'm a big unreliable tosser, but that's PURELY COINCIDENTAL, any rideouts I miss from now on are officially nothing to do with that ;) |
