Blast.... got involved in a SMIDSY this morning....
 

For those that know the area I was travelling from Martins Heron towards the roundabout by the new Merc dealer. I was slowly filtering past the queue of traffic in the broken line chevrons and a Z4 driving woman decides she wanted to filter past the traffic too, just as I was alongside her rear quarter....

I stayed upright and swiped her front wing.

Small scratch and crack to my LHS fairing.... one big gouge to her front wing from my bar end.

She said "sorry..... i didnt see you.... and sorry for the accident" a few times.... :D

Unlucky, but great that there was minor damage.

If it goes the route of insurance companies, be prepared for them to throw the fact you were inside chevrons at you. Yes, she should of made sure it was safe to enter them, but you should too.

Could end up being a 50/50 that one.

If they say I shouldnt have been there then she shouldnt either. They arent wide enough for a car to fit down at that point. She was wanting to overtake a queue of traffic. Will be going back to take photos of my skid mark. Wasnt going more than 10mph.... traffic was doing maybe 5mph. The fact that i stayed up and the length of the skid will prove that. She just didnt look.

Glad you are fine.

One piece of advice, I'll suggest you report it to your insurance even if you do not intend to claim.

Already done. The insurance numpty said a split liability. The actual claim people appeared to be a bit more confident.

Going back at lunchtime to take some photos of the scene.

Although I'm not too fussed about my damage, she will be claiming from her insurance as her car will need a new wing.

Glad your ok anyway. I have just started commuting, which has opened my eyes to how often people just pull out without looking or even considering someone else.
