Croeso! Have a look around the site, there is loads of information on upgrades etc. When you have some ideas, more specific questions will be answered by some of the technical wizards we have here (I'm not one BTW!)

Re: newbie and a few questions
Depends how sorted the FZR was - they always seemed to get tired far quicker than ZXRs & NC30s. Assuming it was mint you'll probably find the SV brakes and suspension a little slower. Engine power is greater on the SV but will probably feel slower purely because you have to really thrash the little 400/4s.
If it's more of a ratty FZR (and don't be embarrased, they seem to go downhill real quick, especially shocks) then the SV will feel perfect :) As for upgrades, it's mostly cosmetic and suspendies, new springs and oil in the front forks is popular, as are emulators and indeed complete front end swaps. EDIT: Also not a technical wizard :) Mechanically curious :) |
Re: newbie and a few questions
thanks for the replys, my fzr is a bit shabby and is old and in need of some tlc to be honest, i would ask more specific questions but not knowing what really needs to be upgraded i cant ask, i have heard about the suspension and the brake lines what can i do regarding this and i am interested in making it sound better and louder so what exhaust should i be looking at?? thanks again

Suspension..... Ohhh a can of worms and sooooo many opinions on this one! :D how much you want to spend? Getting the front springs changed to ones that match your weight seems to be best bang / buck but those with a GSX-R front end conversion will tell you that this can be done 'cheaply' by selling off the parts removed to offset the cost. There is also the cartridge emulator route to improve damping without changing forks. Rear suspension is again how much? A ZX10 / Zx636 / GSXR rear shock can be substituted in for improved ride / damping, but there are those who argue a replacement shock specific to the bike is a better option, despite the increased cost. Exhausts - look in the exhaust section. Everyone has thier own favourite. I have Renegade, which I love. Best thing is to go and listen to a few and decide which you like. Don't expect any power gains. |
