Push Bike type question.
I have a Carrera Vulcan 07 model - nice bike, canny frame etc - well happy at the moment, however - i need some bar ends to rest on to relieve my wrists.
I have looked at the following : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Carbon-Fibre-b...QQcmdZViewItem But have no idea how they fit. Do i have to cut my grips to fit these? Any clues appreciated. OR, i have seen this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mountain-Bike-...QQcmdZViewItem Which for the same money, looks reasonable. I guess the grips fit next to the bar ends, hence no cutting etc - BUT will they fit the carrera? Argh - need some advice! |
Re: Push Bike type question.
Rather depends on the grips. If you're lucky you can warm them up with a hair dryer or leave them in the sun and move them in a bit with some significant twisting. You'll probably have to move the brake and gear levers in a bit too.
These ( http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=10366 ) are much more comfy and versatile than the old cow-horn style bar ends and if I remember correctly you can get a version that slot into the end of the bars like the bar end weights on your motorbike so you'll not have to mess with your grips. However, the grips you get with a new bike are usually rubbish. Buy a new pair with appropriate gel pads, cut the old ones off and start again. Use a bit of water with washing up liquid to get the new ones on. If you've got twist grip gears you either need to but shorter grips or most these days have a line printed on them where you cut the grip if you've got twist grip. Beware, bicycle bling is as expensive an addiction as motorbike bling. I now have 9 bikes in the garage and still looking for the perfect all rounder. |

Selle Italia with a cut-away under yer gristly bits. Best £20 you'll ever spend on a bike.
