Difference Between Alloy & Stainless steel (Exhaust cans)
Can anyone tell me the difference between the two.
I have been looking at ART exhausts today and one is stainless steel and one is alloy. They looked exactly the same. The Weight was exactly the same. The stainless steel was £20 more. The difference and advantages of one compared to the other would be great if anyone knows. Thanks |
Re: Difference Between Alloy & Stainless steel (Exhaust cans)
they won't be the same weight, alloy will be lighter, but will require more care (need polishing to maintain finish/oxydation) and is softer (dent easier), the stainless just needs a wipe down and should be fine, but is heavier than the alloy, normally the alloy one would be a few quid cheaper as well, perhaps Art are doing a basic price ?
if you want the light weight of alloy, but the easy care of the stainless look at titanium. Cheers Mark. |
