I think I found my perfect horn!!

Steady now, not that type of horn!

As most of you know, I have somewhat of an obsession with being loud. After a little searching, I've found a beaut! The only problem so far is the trumpet length on the thing. :(

It's called "Mega Loud" and is a mere $135 + shipping. It's a dual trumpet airhorn, with built in compressor. If I can mount it on the bike, I plan on modifying it. It takes 40-50psi, so I'm thinking small air tank, small compressor to fill the tank, and an electronic switch to dump the air tank into the horn. If the airtank can hold enough pressure, I should be fine for a few blasts, get the compressor right, and it should refil quick enough.

Listen to it here. What you think? :D

Blimey, a bit excessive, but with all that stuff added to your bike, its gonna slow it down!!

I'm afraid that anyone that uses something like that on the road is seen as an idiot by everybody else, no matter what the circumstances.

Nah, not much weight added. Apparently you can get 3000psi air tanks for paintball use which strap to your lower back. I'm not aiming that high for pressure though, no need when the outlet valve will probably only let around 60psi tops through.

Other than airtank, the compressor units don't weigh much for a basic "trickle charge" effect one.

if I'm letting out 60psi, I'll probably look around the 1000psi mark. Should be plenty.

I can cope with people thinking I'm an idiot, most do anyway :D And if it stops a SMIDSY then IMO, money well spent.

Good luck with it if you're planning on doing that! Sounds like it should be very loud. AS Viney says, won't all that stuff be a bit heavy/bulky to fit on a bike?

Good god, I thought it was going to be a truck horn or something, nope, you've nicked that off a cross channel ferry :p

Nah, ferry horns are far too big & heavy to put on the bike (trust me, I've looked into that idea too! Ferry horns can weigh in at up to 240lbs!!)

Hovis, multi-tone horns are illegal!

Now, if I fit this to the bike, who votes I let the MOT guy find it for himself?

What is it? (my computer doesn't have speakers so still pretty quiet here)
What dB is it?

Re: I think I found my perfect horn!!

The dbA rating on the horn isn't specified, but I'd imagine 140dBA ish.

The horn is actually designed for trucks. See here.
