Where does it state it? I passed my test recently but can't see a 'restricted' anything anywhere on it. I was wondering this too.

Also do you get put on probation even if you've had a car license for years?

I am also wondering this question, I am going to sit my car test soon, but have decided to leave it untill after the 2 years are up next month so the restriction is no longer on my license (if they remove it, dunno if they do). My insurance company is arguing that as long as it says I'm restricted on the license, they will only insure me for a vehicle under that restriction, no matter if the restriction is valid or not.

says on the notes on the back of the photocard license '=<25kw'

If it says you are restricted on the licence then you need to send it off.

As for the probation period that starts from the date that you have your first full licence for your first category. So if you've had a car for years then you will not have a probabtion period even if you've just passed your bike test. Capiche?

Somehow somewhere on one or other part of your license it will say for two years or until such and such date so you don't need to send it off. They are notoriously hard to understand though are they not?

On your licence it says when you passed you restricted test, and then it says =<25kw. This means you can ride a bike up to 33bhp for the restriction period of two years. If a cop pulled you and looked at your licence he'd check how long you've had it and then see if you've been riding longer than two years.

If you want to get it changed you have to send your licence off and pay a fee for the change. When my restriction runs out im not going to bother, if i get pulled he can see how long i've had my licence and will therefore know if im on a restricted licence or not!

Ok, well if I am wrong at least explain yourself. I was told this by a driving instructor so figured it a good source.
