How much did you pay for your 7500 miles service?

I took mine to Cupar Motorcycles (Suzuki dealer) which is where the bike originally came from, so I want to keep the stamps in the service book the same. They charged me just over £200, and I am wondering if this is about normal?

I think I paid £97 for the 7500mile service. Pretty sure in fact. That was at the Suzuki Dealership I bought it from too.

All depends on the age of the bike and what actually needs doing. In my case, my bike would of been around 5months old at the time, so relatively little needed doing.

7500 is spark plugs & oil isn't it? Might be worth confirming the work they're planning on doing. I suspect they might be padding out a lot of labour time with inspection & nut tightening...

The bike is a K3 but registered in 2004. Here's a list of what they carried out

Morning all.
Was there much difference with the bike after the service? For £200 there should have been!
Looking at the list it was mainly checking, which is ambiguous to say the least. Do they check brake pads by just gawping at the edge with the calipers in situ, or do they remove the calipers, and inspect the pads properly? It also appears that they didn't change brake fluid or coolant, it should be every two years, although I prefer to do it annually.
My 7.5k service can cost that sort of money if the bike needs a full complement of service parts, & a set of pads or two, but people do notice a distinct difference afterwards. It can also be done while you wait, so you can get dirty too:D.

Cheers.

+1 for everything the good man said :D

I got my 11k service done (bike was actually around 12k when I got there - what with coming from another planet & all :p). Spanner Man spent a good 7 hours tinkering with my bike, and the difference was VERY noticable afterwards!!

All for the princely sum of £175 IIRC. 7hours my bike was in his garage! At stealership labour rates, the labour alone would be £280!!

Oh yea, and SV650.org members get a discount from him too!

(shameless plug for you there Spanner Man)

Jeez, at least quote me properly

Nah, seriously, I understand that some places have higher outlays than others. An approved Suzuki dealership near me were the cheapest quote around (I didn't ask Spanner Man) for the 14.5k service, at £160 all in.

I know the business economics of it all (volume of work vs cost of said work etc), and I use the word "stealership" in jest, even to the local dealers.

I use different places for different things, which is a point SV650Racer, how much for a Dyno run to check the A/F mix (and possibly adjust if it's a little low)?? :D
