Trying to get my Lad a job
I have spent the entire evening on MSN 'chatting' to my son, trying to fill out a job application as outdoor ed instructor in a center down the road. It is an absoltely ideal job for him and he really wants it. He is currently working in France as a leader for an adventure holiday firm, hence why muggins here is filling in the form
All has gone well up to now with the technical side, qualifications etc and we are left with the dreaded "Additional information to support you application". This will be crucial for his application since he has only just got the minimum qualifications. Arghh I hate this part of forms....! sorry needed to moan to someone! |
Re: Trying to get my Lad a job
Had the same thing with my Uni application...
... having to find inventive and serious sounding ways to avoid simply saying "Look, I'm 37 not 17, I want to do this because it's cool not because Mum and Dad want me out of the house!". ;) |
Re: Trying to get my Lad a job
Where is the funding coming from for the role? Tailor your answers to whose paying the bills - if it's the local council then "fluffy" stuff about how you gain satisfaction from seeing kids develop their potential with an outlet for their energy channeled into useful and creative pastimes; if it's sponsored by private industry go on about "creating well rounded employees of the future" and stress how group interaction and excercise promotes not just fitness and well being but important social skills, leadership skills and teamwork etc.
Don't say "I like to see young boys in shorts" :p |

LP, I know what you mean though, me & the Mrs had to "revise" (no, make that re-write) the boys CV, just for a job in Currys... Which he's now doing well at... He finishes college on Friday and doesn't start Uni 'til October, so he's hoping he can earn enough to get himself a 2nd hand 125 as they don't allow students to keep cars on campus. |
Re: Trying to get my Lad a job
Well at half past midnight I found some good background info on the council website, so will try to weave this in.
This job is SO what he wants and needs, I don't want to let him down. |
