Cheap (£6) Multimeter at Aldi
http://uk.aldi.com/sunday_special_bu...ctnl_2546.html
They are probably this cheap in Maplins but I don't know. Anyway as anyone who's ever had battery charging or reg\rec problems will testify these are very useful to have around at £6 there's little excuse not to get one. I have two from a previous occasions such as this (when someone else made the post). One in my garage, one in my parents so always one to hand. |

Maplin used to do DMM's starting a £2.99.
In the words of a big brother contestant, 'ave it! :smt020 |

Very useful to have. Just remember with cheap ones, be wary of trusting your life to them if working with mains systems, they can freeze up and give a 0 reading when really it's about to light you up!

Re: Cheap (£6) Multimeter at Aldi
I am only suggesting these as good for testing battery and alternator output voltages, continuity of wiring and measuring resistance of things like indicators circuits.
If you need mains work doing, you should be using an electrician. |

3 year warranty it sez. I only use FLUKE myself but one of those looks quite handy. Can't see the DC voltage scale but it looks like the kind of meter we were paying loadsa money for in the 90's.
