99Sv650s starting problems
Hei guys! i'm new to this forum. Bought a 99 sv650s for about a month ago. Have been driving without any problems until yesterday.
The bike had been standing outside in the rain for two days. I went outside and pulled the chocke lever back, started the bike, and let it run on idle for maby 20 seconds. When i was about to get on the bike, the engine stopped. I heard the engine "drowning". probably flooded the cylinders? I tried to start the bike, but there was no fireing. I let the bike rest over the night in a garage, and when i tried to start it today there still was no fireing in the cylinders. I then took out the sparkplugs and placed them in the sun to dry for an hour. Mounted everything back, but still no luck :( Does anyone have a solution? -PK |
Re: 99Sv650s starting problems
Hi, you need to be as specific as possible. "Drowning" isn't a techie term I'm familiar with. When the plugs came out, were they wet looking? Can you check that you've got fuel coming through to the carbs by undoing the carb drain screws? Are the plugs sparking if you ground them on an (unpainted / laquered) part of the frame or engine and turn the bike over?
