Sticking leather to textiles?

I've got a couple of very minor holes in my Texnics trousers after me wee off the other week, and though they're still structurally OK, they look pretty ropey and there's no doubt that the protection is down a little. But I've looked at it, and there's just a single simple panel damaged on each knee, which could easily be fixed with another panel over it. I've got an old leather jacket of nicely thick but supple leather which would be perfect for the job, I reckon, and it's just a case of cutting out the patch the right size...

But, how to attach it? I don't want to sew it on, since a) it'd maybe affect the waterproofing, and b) I can't sew. So I'm thinkng some sort of flexible glue similiar to that used to glue panel joins on leathers would be ideal. Haven't a clue what to use though... It's on the knees so it's got to flex, it's a big old panel so it doesn't have to be massively strong either. Any ideas?

Or a social worker maybe :) I used to have big leather patches on all my trousers when I was a kid, nobody could afford to replace them as fast as I put my knees through 'em

My guess would be good old Evostick Impact Adhesive (or Evilstick as most people I know call it.

Used it for years to clue LARP swords together and other bits of LARP kit.

Might be worth asking K but I think she will agree.

Yeah - good ol' evo will do teh trick - just don't go for the Impact 2, it's basic Impact Adhesive that you want.

Dunlop do the best one - only I can't remember the full name of it off hand... so, kinda useless there.

My only worry would be able wet weather longevity - not gonna be that brilliant. Good and regular waterproofing once it's stuck in place, with Nikwax or something similar, will help alot.

definitely. Impact adhesive is what (used**) to be used throughout the car trimming trade for leather/textile. Make sure you follow the instructions regarding tack-time etc.

** solvent regs probably rule it out now

Yep evo is good, ive got one jacket with a patch. I was a little skint after my large crash. my jacket had a large hole in the arm where i went sliding with it underneath me, ive put a patch on it and for over a year is been fine.
