bigger rear wheel on curvy

hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone has fit a swingarm from a different bike on to the curvy sv to be able to put a bigger rear wheel without too much modification.

why?............ what advantage would there be to this?

You dont need to swap the swingarm. Quite a few folk have put 1200Bandit wheels in with few problems. Then you can fit 180 section tyres.
Just need new spacers and bearing swaps i think??

PM northwind or billy for details

Wait for Northy to come back from the Annual Swim Out. I think he's fitted a bandit wheel of some sort to his curvy at some stage.

There's no advantage to having the bigger wheel on there, it might even make the bike corner slower, i just want to see how it looks with it on. Just for looks, that's all. I've streetfightered it and have cut my end can to a stubby one and put renthals and headlight conversion.

thanx haggis & rigor i'll look into it now and also send northy a pm and he can get back to me when he gets back.

Might be useful on a trackbike, I'd need to experiment. I have a spare set of GSXR750L rims which are the same as Bandit 1200 and loads of 180 and 120 sticky tyres here, I may have to delve into the garage and have a play to see what needs doing.

not quite relevant as mine's a pointy but this winter i managed to get an sv1000 s.arm on with gsxr600 shock, caliper wheel etc and i've got a 190 rear tyre on..it handles FINE and just as important for a fighter, looks good...:thumright: you'll have plenty of people on here saying you'll mess up the handling but you don't know till you try and as i said, my handles fine..(although i'm no great rider!!!)the bandit12 wheel would be much easier than the route i took as i don't think you'd have to worry about the chain lining up..good luck..!!

I want to fit a set of racing wet tyres to a pair of spare wheels, and as I already have the Gixer wheels I'll try and make them fit properly.
