Shocking Insurance

I've talked to a few people about this, but I just called my insurance company. Whilst I was on the phone, I gave the good old line of "whilst I'm here, can I get a few details off you? I don't have the paperwork to hand as I'm in the office, and I'd like to make a few enquiries to shop around as my renewal date is coming up."

The reply I got was that they confirmed all the details I didn't want to know but I was asking anyway. Good, they answered my questions politely, can't ask for more than that.

Then came the "Although I can't give you accurate numbers, you'll be getting your first years no claims, which is good for 30-40% discount. There's also a renewal discount we can give you, which works out usually around 15%." At this point my eye's were opening a little to say the least. "Oh, I see you'll be turning 25 half way through your next policy too, we can apply the discount for that 6months early too, which is good for around another 10%." she continued.

She's also arranged for someone from their renewals department to call me back on the 17th July (at a specific time) to give me accurate numbers. Then I can shop around, and call them back with the reference given if I want.

So I could be looking at up to 65% discount on my premium, blinking heck!!

Sorry, just thought I'd share my joy! :D

<cynic> You could be, but you won't, at least not on the renewal they'll send through the post. I'm guessing most insurance companies will play the "lets try a high number incase he just renews, then lower it if he phones back" game </cynic>

;)

Keithd, I'm 24, paying £330 for FC insurance on a K6. Ripped off?

rigor, I quite agree. But they've said they'll call me back later to discuss details more accurately. When they do, I fully intend on declining whatever they offer, doing some phoning around for quotes & then calling them back again with a "What can you do?"

AutoNet Insurance.

Keithd, I did a lot of ringing around about a year ago, and they were the cheapest. They've now offered to slash my premium to less than you're paying now (nothing definite yet). Considering I've only held a licence for a year, that's quite good. :D :D :p

Wish I could get it that cheap. Mine was just over £300 after 1 years no claims, and I'm 30! Clean license, garaged bike too, not sure what else I could do other than move!
