laser eye surgery - now incl sharks!
 
Let's open up that debate in here rather than in hovis' thread.

Are the above mentioned lasers mounted on sharks? If not, should they be?

Oh right, do sharks have enough medical qualifications to fix peoples eyes with lasers?

And assuming you have to go down to shark depth for the surgery, wouldn't your eyes explode from the pressure of the water?

But light travels slower through a medium that is more dense. So it makes sense to go down there to get your eyes fixed by sharks when you think about it.

it can slow down to as slow as 38mph in some substances

actually the photons travel at the same speed, the apparent slowing is due to the photons being absorbed and re-emmited more frequently in a more optically dense medium, which isn't the same as material density
