Noticable that they were both overtaking on the left - the 'Ring forbids undertaking, and as it is as a highway you're liable for prosecution undertaking (if you're caught)

Nurburgring being in Germany, they drive on the right side of the road. Passing on the left would be called "Overtaking."

I'd be shocked if someone was passing on the right at Nurburgring, passing on the left is par for the course.
