Bikes in bus lanes Experiment

Was on the A23 this morning Northbound at Streatham. They've got an experiement going on where bikes are ALLOWED in the bus lanes.

That's a pretty good result, it should make things a bit safeer than filtering thru' lines of traffic that's constantly chaning lanes to get ahead.

At any time? All of the ones on my commute allow bikes in but only out of hours (i.e. when anyone can go in!). I think this is an 'at any time' experiment...

Having been fined twice for straying into bus lanes in London, I'm staying well clear. Lambeth council camera operators never seem to take a break.

There are a few Bus Lanes in London which can be used by Motorcyclist, the A23 as mentioned, the A41 and the A13. It's part of a Pilot Study by TFL.
For more info see here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/2295.aspx

Perhaps I'm cynical, but I have a feeling the outcome has already been decided and they are simply going through the motions before coming to the conclusion that

a) Bikes hold up buses and should stay out of their lanes.
b) Bikes cause congestion so here's a £5 a day charge.

Or perhaps I have been in London too long and have lost all faith in things :(

• Eton Rise / Paradise Rd, Richmond
Westminster
• Cockspur Street - Eastbound
• Kensington Road / Kensington Gore - Eastbound
• Baker Street / Portman Square / Orchard Street
• Haymarket
• Bayswater Road
• Kensington Road / Kensington Gore - Westbound
• Piccadilly - Eastbound
• Gloucester Place - Northbound
Trial sites on the Transport for London Road Network
