Bikes in bus lanes Experiment
Was on the A23 this morning Northbound at Streatham. They've got an experiement going on where bikes are ALLOWED in the bus lanes.
That's a pretty good result, it should make things a bit safeer than filtering thru' lines of traffic that's constantly chaning lanes to get ahead. |
Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment

Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment
Having been fined twice for straying into bus lanes in London, I'm staying well clear. Lambeth council camera operators never seem to take a break.

Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment
There are a few Bus Lanes in London which can be used by Motorcyclist, the A23 as mentioned, the A41 and the A13. It's part of a Pilot Study by TFL.
For more info see here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/2295.aspx |
Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment
Perhaps I'm cynical, but I have a feeling the outcome has already been decided and they are simply going through the motions before coming to the conclusion that
a) Bikes hold up buses and should stay out of their lanes. b) Bikes cause congestion so here's a £5 a day charge. Or perhaps I have been in London too long and have lost all faith in things :( |
Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment

Bus lanes that motorcyclists can legally use Kingston • Kingston Rd / Cambridge RdRichmond • London Road, TwickenhamWestminster • Cockspur Street - EastboundTrial sites on the Transport for London Road Network • A13 East India Dock Road (between Leamouth Road and Butcher Row East)The ones on the A4 in Kensington and up to Hyde Park Corner would be handy too... |
Re: Bikes in bus lanes Experiment
