Why do you ride?

Whilst out lunchtime was thinking to myself why do i ride, why not drive. I'm for the simple reason that I love how i can get away and have fun, for me also it relieves stress, trouble at home i can just get out on the bike and it will calm me down. And then i hear others who say to me that theyre more forced to do it.

I've also allowed multiple choice on this poll due to some having to use theirs.

If I wasn't riding bikes I'd have to find that bike-fix elsewhere! I really can't get enough of the buggers :) I can't afford a car- but i don't think that really comes in to it though. It's like being on a roller coaster which you control, without the seats! just that bar to hold on to!

I do it for the fun of it and the great gas mileage! 55 miles per US gal sure beats the 17mpg my car gets...So I save about $30 a week on fill-ups.

Cars aren't any more pricey than bikes are they?

Got mine years before I got my car and because I always wanted one. Plus there was the need for independant transport for commuting.

Now I've got a bike just because I want one & I'd get a major sulk on without it. Don't really need it for commuting from where I am now (car is not too hideous) but the bike's really useful for getting in and out of london in the evenings.

really useful? extremely useful? absolute necessity?

So I don't know what that button is...

I ride to get to work, and sometimes for pleasure, i drive because i enjoy driving and im a far better driver than rider. I also enjoy to comfort, the dryness, the radio, the aircon of the car.

a few reasons:
1. grew up around bikes
2. cheaper than a car (not just the price of the car but insurance, tax, mot, and petrol costs, plus the costs i would add to it)
3. love the community of bikers...allways freindly
4. wakes me up on the way to work very very well
5. i can ride anything on 2 wheels, but mainly on 1
6. prefer doing maintenence on a bike than a car

Re: Why do you ride?

I started riding in May 06 because I needed to have alternative transport for work because they run a 4-day parking policy for everyone, including directors. So CBT done, CBR125RR purchased and then I receive a parking permit for work as a shift worker, meaning parking anytime, anywhere, any site!

I enjoy my riding so much I stuck with it, simply to get away from 'it' all, no passengers, no one to pick up, nothing to drop off, just me and the open roads with no destination aiming for about 100miles each day of riding!

I hope to enjoy it more when the DAS is complete

I like anything fast. My first love is cars but there's no way i could afford a car that accelerates like my bike! (Even if I could I'd now keep the bike but if I'd had the money then I wouldn't have started riding)
