SV650 Security

I've just bought a fully faired SV, fitted a ground anchor and bought an almax chain.

Where do people run their chains on the bike to make it as secure as possible? Putting it through the wheel seems pointless as it could be removed?

I put a round lock that can't be cut in the rear rotor and have an alarm system that goes off if the rear shock is compressed or it is tilted a certain angle off of the sidestand. Also has a vibration sensor that can be adjusted if you are afraid of somebody taking a baseball bat to your bike. It wasn't more than $100 USD and took about half and hour to install.

You can pass it through the frame on the left hand side- but it's tight! be careful not to upset the electrics too.

I have my chain passed through the frame on the LHS, see thumbnail (if it attached ok) and a disc lock on the front, and an alarm, and the bike is covered when I'm not playing on it or taking it to bits just for fun.

Thanks for the pic, it makes it a lot clearer.

It looks as though the faring covers that section of the frame with the bike I have bought, although I'll have to play with it when i pick it up tomorrow (yipee :smt023). Although, the almax chain i've bought is huge, so it may not fit :smt087

I got the series IV almax the other day, 1.5 meter chain. Its too large to go through anyting but one wheel, so I wrap it round the front wheel twice and it goes through a ground anchor. I have a Xena alarmed disc lock, which works very well, and a cheapy oxford chain wraped round the back wheel and rear shock.

And i have an oxford stormex cover, which is a nightmare to get off and always knocks the disc lock, setting it off...

Your name and that SV look familiar.

Did a mate of mine drop a bike off to you and your dad at a garage type place?
