Alarms and the wet weather!
After getting really hacked off by the fact my ignition circuit (with an alarm/immobiliser) takes a funny turn after a wet ride i have come to the conclusion that i will 'reconnect' the ignition split circuit 'back in' but leave the alarm connected to the other circuits it immobilises along with its alarm function!
Anyone else done this? - just not sure if i can disconnect just one part of what it does. once i have done this i will just tape the two ignition immobilisation wires that come out of the alarm that will be unused. |
Re: Alarms and the wet weather!
Or better still take the whole alarm off and put it on Ebay.Best mod you ever made.

Found that fault at last!
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1076/...fc0c14f6_m.jpghttp://farm2.static.flickr.com/1131/...dca54dd2_m.jpg Knackered alarm due to good old british weather! as you can see the insulation has worn away and the bare wire was touching the frame! :) - happy as fook! |
Re: Alarms and the wet weather!
My alarm (Datatool system 3) used to play up when it got wet, it used to go off a couple of hours after i'd given the bike a wash, but on a recent wet trip to Wales it started goin off in the evening after riding in the rain.
With a trip to the Alps in August I really didn't want it going off in the middle of the night waking up the whole campsite or worse playing up & not being able to start the bike so i've just had it taken off |

Re: Alarms and the wet weather!
That just looks like poor installation damaged wire or it was rubbing up against somthing, so not a problem of the alarm, the installer did not take proper precautions. Lets not forget that the early SVs suffered similer wires rubbing against the frame.
