Carb Balancing
I've got a pair of gauges for balancing the carbs but they tend to bounce around a lot as each cylinder "sucks"
Last time I used the little valves to calm things down a bit. Is this right or is there another way to damp the pulses down a so things are easier to see? Secondly does manometer tend to do it less? Thaks |
Re: Carb Balancing
Yeah you need to use little restrictors or they will bounce around like crazy due to the pulses!

Re: Carb Balancing
You must have the cheap crap gauges, the decent ones don't have (or need) the valves. Also lean running (e.g. new can but not dyno'd) makes the needles flutter a lot. You can get around this by taking off the airbox, taking the appendix off the left side, plugging all the holes, and putting the airbox back, so you can run with it and access the adjuster at the same time.

Re: Carb Balancing
To answer the qestion, yes, just adjust the little valves until they dont bounce.
At the end of the day its not the most important job in the world, and if the guages are cheap, then so what, they will do the job. |
Re: Carb Balancing
It's more of a caveat to those who haven't bought any yet, but it's not a job that should be forgotten about. It won't make it break down though, if that's what you mean.
