They are smart, gears take a few miles to get used to.

I was not keen at all on the power delivery, bikes I like to scream but I dont enjoy having to take a car over 7000prm before the power kicks in.

yep.

I don't mind making them work. I'm used to riding a bike so it should be quite natural. I'll just have to remember not to filter!!!

Going to look at one tonight. Sexy black one. I'm starting a Honda collection!

Its a honda.

I remember talking to one of the top bods at honda at a motorshow, about the v-tec engine and its longenvity. His reply, to his knowledge that had only 40 failures of a vtec engines since production. And he said that most of them where down to poor maintenance.

Driven one...mental is the word.

One of those would be my old S2000 then :D It blew up after being serviced regularly :D (Nothing to do with my lead feet thank god ;))

I had a blast in one, and dare i say it...it was better than my golf gti turbo :(

Also like viney said, the engines are bullet proof.

Dan,

It depends on what you want and how you're going to use it. For short frantic back lane driving they're a great bit of kit. I tried one and didn't like it. They lack refinement, are very noisy and are not particularly comfortable.

They do look good, sound good (from the outside) and are fun to drive. But they do need to be revved, all the power is at the top and you have to work the V-tec to make it go.

Try one, but remember that it's got to do long motorway work as well as flying through the Pirbright (Foot & Mouth) twisties.

I found the Focus ST to be a better all round package, but you won't get one that old, so the budget will be higher. It'll cost you to insure it, it's a group 16 or 17 car, not cheap for a new driver.

Hope that helps, it's not meant to be too negative, it may be just what you want...

Oh, and congrats on the pass.

Thanks all for your replies. While I am happy I passed my test I don't actually feel that elated at all. When I passed my bike test it was the best feelign ever. It's more for my wife that I did the test anyway, I could have happily never done the test but the missus thinks I needed to get it done. I'll use it mainly for toing and froing from work but the occasional weekend blast. I just love the look of the Civic Type R and don't want to have a boring slow car. Sensible is just not me!
