optimus prime question
 

for all you transformers fans, i won an optimus prime off ebay for my son because he's optimus prime mad, thing is i know OP is a truck that turns into the robot but this one ive won is a fire engine? in the first gen transformers in the 80's OP was a truck and a trailer but in the new version he's just a truck? this one ive won is from 2001 so it say's? have a look here -

That's really wierd, I remember OP quite vividly as a tractor/trailer truck thingy. I remember him being a lot more blue than the red fire engines in the wikipedia article too.

Very strange, perhaps beer really does destroy brain cells :D

kwak, the way i understand it is there a few generations of transformers toys, which coincided with different generations of the cartoon series.

The Optimus Prime most of us probably remember having as a toy (and the one I had as a kid) was the 1st generation, which was a tractor/trailer unit like this one.

Reading a bit further on Wikipedia, the one you've bought looks like the one here which was from a next-generation series of transformers imprted to the US from Japan.

My son was playing with his Toy fire engine today saying "Autobots to the rescue", I said "I thought OP was a truck" to which he said "OP is a fire engine on the cartoons on Jetix at the moment"
