a freind is going to florida & wants to take it, but it seems as if the usa map is only avilable on cd at 125 euros, is it possible to download it free?

i did not mean that, i was wanting to know if they were avilible to download free, but from your reply it would seem that you have to buy the disc?

I would think so, what GPS software is he using? Or did he just want a map as in a paper one.

its a mio c510 & he was hoping he could just download a map of florida onto it. i have seen the usa cds for sale but he did not want to pay125euros for a disc just for a weeks holiday

If its anything like Mapsource/Garmin, then no it wont be available to DL as unlock keys are required and not all versions of the software works on any hardware. I have a GPS V that I brought v4 of the sofwtare for the USA but the unlock code only works for one area :( I also have a newer gps unit but the software doesn't work on it but then I don't take that unit state side, bit big for hand luggage :)

An unscrupulous person might occasionally come accross GPS mapping Torrents.
