Idle hunting around

Bike has started to hunt around when idleing thsi morning, it wasnt doing it last night. It was set to about 1300rpm but not hunts between 1000 and 1500 ish. I've done a quick search and many people have had very low idle for which carb balancing and choke cable have been suggested, could this be my problem?

If so, how do I clean/lube the choke cable or is it replacement time?:(

It might be the choke plungers stuck in the carb bodies or begining to stick, You could pop the carbs off and follow the cables back to carbs and you'll see a screw in the carb body undo that and then pull sliders out and check that they move freely.

The screws can be a pig to get out as the corrode into the carb body, if in doubt next time you see Liz ask her how long it took me to get mine out. The screws are also made of Suzuki's finest cheesemetal and the heads round off really easily.

Whats the choke lever feel like to move, does it move easily and freely or it it difficult to move ?

Choke lever moves freely. Not so sure about taking the carbs etc apart, never done that before but I'm learning fast (I think) :D

Wot Fizz says. Most likely culprit.

My lever was really stiff and I could hardly move it when my were stuck, but they were complety seized and I had to use a pair pliers to get the brass plungers out of the carb body.

You can do it without taking the carbs off, but its a bit fiddly, if you can take them off it makes things easier as you can get more pressure onto the plunger screw.

Its a matter of popping the airbox off, and then undoing I think a couple of screws and diconneting the throttle cables off and off they should come. I was a bit daunted by doing it at first, but if you take your time its quite straight forward.

It might be worth replacing the choke cable as mine was rusty inside as well as the plungers being stuck. The cable splits into two one for each carb, and water gets into the splitter and its rusts the cable. If you do replace the cable might be worth packing the splitter box with grease to try and keep the water out..

If you've got or get a haynes manual it goes through the process reasonably clearly in there...
