Swiss accommodation - cheapish??

Planning a few passes in Switzerland this year, and a couple of nights, is accommodation expensive? Are there cheaper pensions etc?

Just don't want this part of the trip to bankrupt me :)

Mate, it's Switzerland.... They even charge you for sneezing over there....

It's only a small country, stay in France/Germany/Italy and cross back in everyday :D

Just got back from there, my advice fuel up before Switzerland ride through, get out without stopping. Expensive rooms, food and beer, quite a lot smelt like sweaty feet to me. That was Vevey, between Montreux and Lausanne, maybe just not a good place to stop. The rest of Switzerland may be lovely, although I'll be staying in Italy and France.

Dunno where you lot go, but i found Switzerland no dearer than the UK. We stayed in Lucerne which was stunning.

I have to go to Baden quite often and don't find the local hotels/bars too expensive. Then again I am used to being mugged in Paris

I stayed with my mate just outside Zurich so it was really cheap!
Booze and grub equivalent to UK.
Don't forget your carnet from the gas station over the border - and the speed cams are head on because all the Swiss argue about who was driving. Get a tinted visor and go like hell! :-)
