SV mileages
Hi All,
I've just registered to the forum as I'm going to buy a second hand (yr 2000ish) SV as my first bike. Any feedback on reliability at various mileages would be helpful. I've seen one with about 45k on it (with FSH), it's very cheap at £1200. I have about 2k to spend, so will probably get the best I can afford. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Sam. |
Re: SV mileages
Check out the for sale section here, you will find lots of bargains, you should be able to get a very nice curvy for £2K.

Re: SV mileages
Yeah for 2k you should be able to pick up a very nice curvy or a reasonable pointy.
To give you an idea I picked up a 54 plate SV650s with lower fairings, rear hugger, rear seat cowl, Remus Revolution can, 8300 miles for £2300 a few weeks ago. The only marks on it are some scratches on the lower fairings where the old owner caught it on the hedge into his garden. Piccies here - http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=95391 Cheers Dave |

Re: SV mileages
Reliability is all down to how the bike is maintained. Randy-o on here's bike's done well over 100,000 miles. Rictus's bike, well, frame, had done 154k, the rest of it had done various milages. Many on here with around 50-60k all with very little problems. Mines done 52k from new, ridden by me. The gearbox is a bit iffy, but thats probably my riding, and the type of riding i do.
Seen a couple of 03 pointy models for under £2k. |

Re: SV mileages
Hi People,
Thanks for your advice, and Hovis' bike looks a great buy! I can't afford one until March though (I'll fill that time by booking loads of test rides!). I'm definately after a curvy one, they're more individual, the pointy ones look like Fazers! Hmmmm...yellow, red or black though??!! |

Re: SV mileages
I got a K3 S model on a 2004 plate on March 2006 with 5000 miles on it and paid £2800.
It came with a Datatool Alarm, Alphadot, Rear Suzuki Hugger, Tail Tidy and a Double Bubble Dark Screen. Don't pay more than £2400 for a 2004 bike. You might not get all the goodies I did for that sort of money though, be preapared to haggle. Some sellers will take off the extra kit they have fitted and sell that seperately. Some nice looking bikes come up on the For Sale section of this forum. (I got mine using this forum). Good hunting. Tim. |
