I reckon the LARPers would love this

Interesting. Could be good to see things like zoom, night vision, etc. built into this. It'd also be cool if you could overlay a "virtual" map over that of a real physical one, so that virtual objects could be inserted into an otherwise unfiltered/unprocessed representation of reality. IE an empty warehouse, used for lazer quest style games, but with virtual bad guys inserted into it. |
Re: I reckon the LARPers would love this
Nope cos its SERIOUS pants
Give me a headset that takes VGA and the Compact Flash VGA out card for my PDA and I can get that working in less than a day. The ASCII filters for video playback have been around for AGES - at leas as far as the original release of The Matrix on DVD - we had a great laugh in the office watching The Matrix in ASCII - well its watching The Matrix from the Matrix isnt it. I will draw to your attention that this was a group of Computer/Internet Geeks and not LARPers - there IS some overlap but not that much :) Its just an example of real-time video effects and my Digital Camera, My phone and even the PSP Camera can all do it. Nothing to see here, move along..................... Now if it was overlaying GPS/Mapping and targetting information THAT would be cool................... |
